Polka Dots Are Back On The Scene

Hey, Guys hope all is well out there in the world for everyone. I wanted to tell ya about a fashion trend that seems to be coming back on the rise. Can anyone guess what it is?….anyone?…it’s POLKA DOTS! Honestly, I have always loved polka dots since I was a kid. So I guess for me the trend never really left my closet ha ha. I know for many, polka dots became a print of their childhood and therefore a fashion HELL NO. Now that Spring is making her way into the world, well she’s trying I should say. I have been noticing black and white polka dots all over the stores and my Instagram feed. My heart is so overjoyed to find polka dots making come back. Usually, the only place I really could find polka dots was thrifting or in my grannies closet. Now polka dots are trendy all over again and taking over the fashion scene, so without any more of me babbling let’s get into my fab outfit.

My polka dot shirt is from my fav store Rainbow Shops. The Shirt is made of chiffon material and has a ruffled sleeve detailing which really gave the top a stylish edge.The Pants which are also from Rainbow were a perfect combo making the whole outfit look high quality and trendy. The pants featured a cute tie waist belt and some ruffling at the top of the hemline. Last but not least the shoes. I’m so over the days of wearing high heels ( my knees aren’t built like they use to be lol) So I threw on these cute little block heels from Amazon which are SUPER COMFY. Block heels are all the rave right now, I suggest you put down the five inches and switch to a block heel girlfriend. I was so excited for less then than $50 bucks I purchased a fun classy outfit. I think this fab combo will be a hit for the workplace or even a simple night on the town.

I’m so happy that designers are making clothing fun again. Fashion is now showcasing prints such as polka dots, florals, bold lines, and funky patterns. I’m so over everyone living the past few years in minimalist trends and boring ensembles. Its like life has been breathed back into the fashion world finally. Do ya’ll think you will partake in the polka dot fashion trend? I know I surely will because life is always better with fun prints to brighten up any day. Mellow In Yellow

Being in front of the limelight is something I have always loved and hold near and dear to me. My mom sparked my interest early in my childhood. She would enroll me into beauty pageants,modeling schools and different theather programs. I loved being on stage or in front of a camera lense for all the world. As I got older I stuck with the hobby and tried to perfect my craft. I attend multiple workshops, conferences and entered other pageants to become more knowledgeable with what it takes to be successful in the industry.

Well…let me tell ya this industry is not an easy one to maneuver but anything worth wanting is worth working hard for. With much hard work and determination you can most definitely leave your mark upon it. For example the plus size modeling industry is still pretty new on the scene. Over time it has gotten better and will continue to grow. Being only 5’3 and plus size for sure has its downfalls when it comes to the real modeling world. Agencies and designers prefer plus models to be 5’8 or taller and between the sizes of a size 12-16. So at the end of the day that leaves me wondering where the heck does a petite plus size girl like myself fit in. I always have been one to show up to castings even if the requirements specified what they wanted. I feel like yes.. I may have some odds against me, but I shouldn’t let it hinder me from going for what I want.

I don’t have the perfect body or the prefect shape. I have scars and extra skin due to weight loss; but I still strive to be seen and heard. I feel like more people should strive for what they want no matter what society may say. I may not be 5’6 with long legs and toned arms, but I can walk down a runway and slay just like the best of them. You’ll have days you want to give up and feel discouraged ( trust me those days happen ALOT). So many times I have felt like giving up from being hard on myself. At the end of the day you can’t let it get to you, One simply has to brush it off and keep pushing because a break through will happen.

So if theres something you beentrying to achieve but having a hard time. DONT GIVE UP!!! it’s just simply not your time. Maybe try something different that’s out of the norm for you when tackling goals. I would hope someday to be the face of a fashion campaign or walk a run way for a well known designer, but even if that never happens I can say I tried. What matters most is you gave it your all to achieve that goal and left a imprint on at least one person along the way.

Makeup Monday Ft.Ruby Kisses Forever Matte

Hey Ladies, Happy Monday I decided to start writing a new segment on my blog called “Makeup Monday” I know you’re probably wondering what is that? Well let me tell you…Makeup Monday will be me introducing makeup brands that I have added to my ever growing makeup collection. I’m all for finding a good brand of makeup that is affordable and gives me the most wear for my money. Now I’m usually a lover of drug store makeup, but I’ll splurge on a good high end product sometimes depending on what it is. So with all that being said lets get into a brand I have loved FOREVER and want to tell you about.

While I was browsing in my local Beauty Supply Store (BSS) I noticed some new lipsticks that have been quiet the talk on Youtube. It’s the new Ruby Kisses Forever Matte lipsticks that retail for $1.99 at select BSS and online retailers. The first thing that came to mind about the packaging was how it looks the Kylie Jenner Lip kits ( which I refuse to support, I’m sorry I can’t stand her ). Since the Forever Matte Lipsticks are so cheap you would be crazy not to rack up. I have always been a huge fan of the Ruby Kisses makeup line and how pigmented and affordable the products are. The Forever Matte line is available in 17 colors ranging from mauve pink to electric blue. What I like most about the lipsticks is that the colors are WOC (Women Of Color) friendly. I purchased about 10 colors from the line and love every single one. The lipstick pay off is really good and non drying. I love the fact my lips felt moisturized all day. I wore mine for almost 6 hrs and, only had to reapply twice between eating and drinking during the day.

The Perfect Summer Wedding Dress

It’s June which means we are at the start of Wedding Season…. It’s that time of year guys and gals are trying to figure out what the heck they’re going to wear to the big event. Nobody wants to outshine the bride and groom on the big day but you also want to make sure you’re dressed up to par for the occasion. Don’t worry ladies I have you all covered. I came upon a great site called GCGME that offers an array of different dress styles and jumpsuits for any occasion that may come your way. I know for me when it comes to weddings, I like to make sure I get something comfy and loose fitting that allows me to move and not be so hot due to the summer heat.

This year I have no weddings to attend sadly but if I did, the Ava Cap sleeve maxi dress from GCGME would be the perfect look to wear to a summer wedding. Not only is the pattern really nice and different its very comfy and lightweight. Nobody likes spending a fortune on an outfit they will wear one time, at least I know I don’t. I rather spend my coins on something I can get multiple uses thats why a key question I always ask myself when shopping is “How can I use this again?”. With GCGME being so affordable they for sure have tons of options I know I can use over again in the future. I’ll be able to wear my maxi dress on my next tropical vacation out the country or a summer date night with the boo. I love how the light pinks and purples in the dress gives it a nice feminine touch and all flow together for an elegant feel. Since this is a wrap dress you have the choice to really play around with how much leg and cleavage you want to showcase. You can either show a little leg for a more low key look or show a lot ( ladies if its a wedding I say show a little, and save the extra thigh meat for date night ).

Any(Body) Can Wear Lingerie

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. Valentines Day is that one holiday that’s full of chocolate, gifts, pink hearts, and people in love getting ready for a day of fun and excitement. I, on the other hand happen to be single so no fancy dinner or getting cute for a bae will be on my agenda. Instead, I am going to take this day to reflect on the love I have for myself and the body I have grown to love.

I had the opportunity to team up with Yandy.com to model some lingerie looks for my fellow plus size ladies to feel sexy in on V-Day or any day for that matter. Yes, ladies, you can rock lingerie and be just as beautiful as the Victora Secret girls in their ads. Yandy offers many different styles and selections ranging from size 1x-4x. Whether you are the risque type or more conservative, I love how there’s something for everyone. Lingerie is not just for the bedroom; It can also be worn while you are lounging around . All of Yandys pieces are pretty much true to size and will make you feel like a total bombshell.

Doing a lingerie shoot was a first for me and allowed me to step outside my comfort zone. I wanted to showcase that it is okay for women to have cellulite, stretch marks, and tummy rolls. We live in a world that glamorizes perfect models and photoshopped Instagram bodies so much that we often forget what real bodies look like. Real women have flaws and should carry all those flaws with pride because it makes us all different and unique from one another. When I did this shoot, I wanted to display a real plus size body that other women could relate to. This post is for all the girls and women who are trying to love themselves in a world that says otherwise. We are all beautiful no matter what shape, size or color we are.
