Emerald Green Is This Seasons Hottest Color

December 4, 2017 · 1 Comment

Emerald Green Dress

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…….Can you believe that December is upon us already? I swear this year flew by in the blink of an eye right before me. I enjoy December a lot because it means food, family and most of all FASHION. This is the one time of year to bring out the faux fur, velvet, and sequins for those holiday parties and NYE events. One of the hottest colors this season is EMERALD GREEN.

Now when I say emerald green, I don’t want you thinking everyone is walking around looking like the cast for the WIZ lol. I personally think emerald green works well with any skin tone and matches a whole bunch of different colors when it comes to styling. Emerald green also happens to represent the universe, nature, and life, And of course, it’s my birthstone. So let us get into these looks below.

The first dress is from Xehear Curvy. Xehear sells a full line of outfits and styles for straight and plus size women. I love that the brand is very diverse when it comes to sizing, and wants all women to look and feel good. The Maya Floral Sheath dress is perfect for those office parties or parties that don’t require to much. I love that the dress accentuates your curves but also keeps the look very flawless. The black flower detail also gives it that feminine touch of elegance.

The second dress is from Windors. Windsor just introduced there new plus size section a few months ago. I really love that Windsor now offers more sizes so everyone can indulge in the beautiful clothing they sell. The dress I am wearing is the Emerald Twisted Body Con dress. This dress is a little more form fitting and may be better for a night with the girls or  a NYE party. The green really stands out and has a hint of silver glitters for a sparkly effect. I love that the dress is super lightweight and the V-cut detail shows just enough to not give away all my secrets lol.

Last but not least was a lovely dress by Rachel Roy which I got from Gwynnie Bee. Gwynnie Bee is an online subscription-based clothing rental service for women sizes 10-32. Members pay a flat monthly subscription fee and are able to rent a collection of clothing to rent and return. The Ribbed Knit Faux wrap dress made me fall in love the moment I saw it. I just knew I had to have it and add it to my green collection. I love that the dress looks black in color but has a hint of the glittery emerald green in the material. This dress is perfect when you want to be the show stopper and really turn some heads.

Curvy Con Recap

September 11, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Hey everyone this past weekend I attended Curvy Con in NY and wanted to give you a little recap of why I loved the two-day event. Life has been a little hectic on my end so this break was exactly what I needed.

This was my first Year attending Curvy Con on behalf of the wonderful people at Society+. Now I know some of you guys are reading like what the heck is a Curvy Con. Curvy Con is a two-day event created by Plus size Bloggers Chastity Garner of Garnerstyle and CeCe Olisa of Cece Olisa. The two-day event brings plus size brands, fashionistas, bloggers and more into one space to chat, shop and embrace being curvy.

On Friday morning I arrived for the first day of Curvy Con. We kick started the day with well-known trainer and Instagram fitness star Massy Arais. Massy lead us in a great early morning workout while dropping  gems of knowledge. After the morning workout, we got to indulge in a fresh fruit juice bar and rest up for the activities the night had in store. Later in the afternoon, I threw on my outfit styled by Society+ and attended the fashion show sponsored by Dia & Co showing off the latest styles to be released . The styles on the runway were absolutely amazing, I can’t wait to buy a few items. What I loved most about the fashion show was the diversity in the models used to represent the brand.

The second day was when the fun really happened. It was a day full of panels and celebrity guest speaking on different topics. One of my favs was the “Girl Boss” panel. For me it’s so inspiring hearing how other women took an idea, and made it into something great. I truly believe everyone should go after goals they want to achive. I loved the fact I had a chance to meet and greet some of my fav designers and store exces all under one roof. After hearing the panels it was time to hit up the shopping mall to mix, mingle network and shop. Many brands had discounts exclusively for attendees and offered items only being sold at the event. I told myself no shopping but Ashley Stewart and Romans had some pretty great deals, I just couldn’t pass up a bargain.

Last but not least they ended the event by giving all those who purchased platinum or teal tickets a cute giant swag bag full of goodies. Hunny let me tell you the amount of goodies given was BOMB.com. My bag was full of stuff such as as jeans, t-shirts, gift cards, portable charge and coupons. Also through out the event there was plenty of raffles and tons of free items. I literally had no room to put all my stuff going back home lol. The night ended with the Curvy Con after party which was full of laughs, memories, and lots of dancing.

I had such a a great weekend attending this event . I literally can’t wait to attend next year’s Curvy Con. If you missed this year make sure to buy tickets for next years event because they SELL OUT FAST. Thanks to Society+ for dressing me and sending me to this awesome event. Hope you all enjoyed and Owl talk to ya soon.
Love

Flannel Shirt

Hey Yall, looks like we made it to Friday, Which means the weekend is here. I always like to try and make the best of my weekends because they go by super fast. So when it comes to weekend attire, I like to try and keep it comfy since I dress up on weekdays. With it being winter time in New England I have to make sure to wear warm clothing while still looking cute.

The coldness tends to mess everyone up when it comes to displaying your best fashion. That’s why for weekends I’m a huge lover of flannel T-Shirts, and Vandal Collective totally won me over with this Flannel Shirt. I think everyone should own at least two flannel shirts in their wardrobe. You can use a flannel t-shirt literally in every season. In colder months I wear it so I can be warm and comfy. While in the warmer months it’s a great add-on to tie around your waist for a statement piece or to use when it gets a little chilly outside. The Albertson Flannel Shirt I’m wearing is a Men’s shirt that was gifted to me for Christmas. I love the fact the material is super soft and warm. Not to mention it has a added feature of a hood and I’m a huge lover of anything with a hood.

If you’re looking for something comfy to wear to relax in check out Vandal Collective. Even though this is a site mainly targeted to males, the remarkable thing about being a girl is we can go to the men’s sections and make their clothes look just as good if not even better. Plus if you don’t see anything for you maybe you’ll see something for that special guy in your life. It’s always nice to spoil your man with a little something here and there.

Ashley Stewart Never Fails Me

Ashley Stewart Box pleated skirt

Now with 2017 in full swing, I had to kick off the new year with an outfit that would turn heads. While shopping at Ashley Stewart, I came a across a beautiful box pleated skirt. Now me being only 5’1 and plus size I’m a huge a fan of box pleated styles. Ashley Stewart always has my best interest at heart when it comes to box pleated skirts. What caught my attention most about this skirt was the print screamed: ” 24 K Magic” ( probably because that’s currently my favorite song).

So, of course, I brought the skirt and paired a whole look together to make my outfit complete. I love the fact the skirt cinched my waist and had a little flair to it. Box-pleated skirts always work for my shorter frame and are a staple in my wordrobe. I decided to pair my skirt with a cute bodysuit a jacket and was ready for whatever was thrown my way.

If you’re shorter women like me, I say anything that is box pleated is the best way to go when buying dresses or skirts. Box pleated styles not only make shorter women appear so much taller it gives off that elegant feel with showing just enough skin. I love showing off a little leg action for the people ha ha. If you are interested in buying the Geo Jacquard Box Pleated Skirt, it’s currently on sale at Ashley Stewart for $18.89…..Now with a skirt like that and a price that great it’s a must have in any closet.
