Spring Florals

June 7, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Floral Skirt

Where is summer? (Crying Emoji) Well technically it’s still springtime but even that has barely shown its face around my city lately. I’m so ready for the warmer weather filled with summer fashion sundresses,flip-flops and swimwear.

Therefore with the weather not being the greatest it has kind of put a damper on my mood. I haven’t exactly put much effort into getting dressed lately. So to offset my blah mood, I decided to add some color to my pretty basic wardrobe. Now I’m not usually one for lots of color but since it is spring why not right ? floral print is really trendy this season so I figured I partake and purchase a few floral items. While surfing the interweb, a cute floral scuba skirt spoke to me the moment I laid eyes upon it on the CurvySense website. CurvySense is an online fashion retailer that caters to women size 0x-4x. I love how that they offer clothing for any occasion such as swimwear for a day at the beach or a LBD (Little Black Dress) for girls night. No matter what your needs are it seems like CurvySense always has you covered.

Lets get into the outfit details. I decided to wear a simple plain white crop top to make sure my skirt was the main focus.  The skirt was a perfect match for my body type being A-line cut. I love how the A-line style makes my legs appear longer, and cinches at my waist. I put on some cute little pink Mary Jane heels to really make the colors pop.  After getting dressed and putting on such a fun vibrant outfit it really did lift my spirits.

I can’t wait to see what other ways I can style my floral skirt for the up coming months. I just hope some warmer weather is coming soon. Is anyone else having a pretty chilly spring? Also what do you all think of the floral trend is it drab or fab? let me know in the comments below. As always thanks for stopping by and Owl see ya Later.

Sustainable Fashion Is In #RethinkReuse

April 25, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Hey, everyone, some may not know but its Earth Month! Which means we all need to do our part on keeping Earth healthy and sustainable. There are so many ways we can contribute such as recycling bottles, using a mesh bag at a grocery store or even donating unwanted clothes at a local Savers. I was approached by my fellow blogger friend Chardline to link up with a few other Boston bloggers on a special project. The wonderful folks at Savers reached out to us about collaborating to show how sustainable fashion can help the world and be fun all at the same time.

The Ladies and I all met up at our local Savers on Saturday morning and was each given a complimentary $20.00 gift card to help put our outfits together. If you’re old to my blog then you know I am an AVID thrift shopper and Savers happens to be my second home. I love thrifting because it gives you a chance to find one of kind pieces. Another reason I enjoy thrifting  is because instead of unwanted clothes going to a landfill in the garbage, I can now reuse a shirt that someone thought was trash and make it cool again. Did you know it can take up to 700 gallons of water just to produce one new shirt…That’s crazy we could do so much more with all that water wasted for one little piece of clothing. The ladies and I were so shocked at the facts it made this shopping trip even more meaningful. I had a great time browsing the racks and felt inspired to play with colors that represent the Earth.

Savers thrifted fashion

My whole outfit except for the shoes was thrifted for less than $20.00 bucks ( I even had left over for two other pieces ha ha). I don’t know about y’all but I love a good bargain. My pants which are my fav color royal blue were $3.50 and reminded me of the ocean. My black crop top was $3.50 and last but not least my kimono. The kimono was my favorite find because not only does it make a statement, it was brand new with original tags all for $2.50. I know for sure you’ll be seeing more of that kimono in my outfits this spring/summer. So in total my outfit was $9.50 ( what a steal). I got a cute fun outfit that is stylish and even helped recycle some clothes that someone didn’t want or use. I think more folks should try thrifting you never know what you can find. Unlike going to the mall with the same styles on the rack your local Savers gets new stuff in everyday.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and take a trip to Savers and recycle any old clothing no matter good or bad. We only get one planet to live on and we have to take care of this beautiful place we call home. Big thanks to Savers and Chardline for letting us join in on such an awesome project. Thanks to Veronica with the work behind the lens. Make sure to check out Savers State Of Reuse Report for more facts and suggestions on what to do with unwanted clothing. Be sure to stop by the other ladies Bianca,Chardline, Veronica and Genevieve post to see the goodies they scored.

Until next time thanks for stopping by,

Beyond by Ashley Graham For DressBarn

Plus size Floral Dress

Spring is officially here and I can’t wait for fresh cool air and pretty little flowers to bloom. Spring happens to be my second favorite season because it’s a reminder that my birthday is around the corner. Also, it’s that time of year people start putting away the winter sweaters and pulling out all the cute floral and pastel dresses. Sadly, for me living in New England; Miss. Spring sometimes likes to show her face a little later in the season. Despite the bit of cold air that’s still lingering around I have not let it stop me from enjoying Spring fashion.

Today on the blog I wanted to tell you about a new collection that has some cute stylish pieces for the nice weather ahead. The lovely plus model Ashley Graham created a capsule collection sold exclusively at Dress Barn called “Beyond By Ashley Graham”. The Beyond collection is available in sizes 4-24w and retails between $48 -$66. Ashley’s collection for Dress Barn reflects her mantra which is — ‘beauty is beyond size”. I love that the collection is available to all women and not just a certain size range so all body shapes can enjoy.

The dress I’m wearing is called the Floral Cold Shoulder Dress ( I guess exposed shoulders has been my thing lately). I adore how this dress has so much versatility when it comes to styling. I’m totally for an outfit that has multiple uses and this dress does just that. For a daytime look, you can dress it down it with sneakers for a casual feel to run errands. Then if you want to transition into a night on the town add some cute heels and out the door, you go. I paired mine with some black heels this day, but I’m sure I’ll be styling it with some sandals or some kind of sneaker. I say if you’re in search of something cute and springy then make sure to check out The Beyond By Ashley collection exclusively at DressBarn.

My New Favorite Plus Size Jeans

March 15, 2017 · 1 Comment

Plus Size JeansHi guys it’s been almost a month since I put a post up. The weather in New England has been so cold and snowy it sometimes can put your life on pause. Nonetheless, I’m back and Spring time is just around the corner. That is if Mr. Winter decides to leave (major eye roll). So I have news for you about a new store that has taken over the Internet. If you have Instagram then you should already know who I’m referencing, that’s right its FASHION NOVA!!!!
Fashion Nova is the store you hear everyone talking about how great their jeans fit. Well, I had to go check it out for myself to see if the hype was real. Fashion Nova recently released a Curve line for their Plus size customers to be able to shop cute trendy pieces just like the straight size line. Seeing that I’m a lover of all things denim I had to give a pair a try. I tried the Glistening Jeans in Black in a 1x which I really liked. The jeans are super soft and comfy and have AMAZING STRETCH made from a lycra material. I will say they do run small because I believe it’s based off Jr. Plus Sizing. Now that I own a pair I can see why folks are going crazy over them. The high waist jeans make your legs look longer and project a curvier appearance. I paired mines with a sheer shirt and black bralette to give my outfit just enough sexy. Lastly, I topped it off with my brand new jacket from City Trends that yells “GIRL POWER”.

Shoes: Local store in mall (similar here )

If you’re looking for some cute jeans in different colors and styles then Fashion Nova is your one stop shop. Just make sure to read the sizing and go off their size chart to be sure you get the right fit. Also when checking out use my code XOVANA for a 15% discount at checkout, but move fast because the jeans sell out pretty fast. Hope you guys enjoyed this post and stay tuned I will be doing a “try on haul” of more Fashion Nova items and how other pieces from the site fit and look.

Until next time thanks for always stopping by!!

Any(Body) Can Wear Lingerie

February 14, 2017 · 11 Comments

Plus Size LingerieHappy Valentine’s Day everyone. Valentines Day is that one holiday that’s full of chocolate, gifts, pink hearts, and people in love getting ready for a day of fun and excitement. I, on the other hand happen to be single so no fancy dinner or getting cute for a bae will be on my agenda. Instead, I am going to take this day to reflect on the love I have for myself and the body I have grown to love.

I had the opportunity to team up with Yandy.com to model some lingerie looks for my fellow plus size ladies to feel sexy in on V-Day or any day for that matter. Yes, ladies, you can rock lingerie and be just as beautiful as the Victora Secret girls in their ads. Yandy offers many different styles and selections ranging from size 1x-4x. Whether you are the risque type or more conservative, I love how there’s something for everyone. Lingerie is not just for the bedroom; It can also be worn while you are lounging around . All of Yandys pieces are pretty much true to size and will make you feel like a total bombshell.

Plus Size Lingerie

Doing a lingerie shoot was a first for me and allowed me to step outside my comfort zone. I wanted to showcase that it is okay for women to have cellulite, stretch marks, and tummy rolls. We live in a world that glamorizes perfect models and photoshopped Instagram bodies so much that we often forget what real bodies look like. Real women have flaws and should carry all those flaws with pride because it makes us all different and unique from one another. When I did this shoot, I wanted to display a real plus size body that other women could relate to. This post is for all the girls and women who are trying to love themselves in a world that says otherwise. We are all beautiful no matter what shape, size or color we are.

Thanks to Yandy for providing these lingerie pieces that made me feel gorgeous and sexy. Make sure to go check them out for all your plus size lingerie needs. Last but not least a major shout out to one of the best photographers Alex Joachim. Not only did he make this shoot comfortable it was really fun to work with him. We broke into laughter a few times from my silly antics. I hope you all enjoyed this post and it encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and buy something for yourself or for that special man in your life to enjoy. Well until next time thanks, for stopping by and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY
